Dave Ellingson, Woodburn High School science teacher and coordinator of the annual Woodburn digs, will present. Dave recently wrote “Bison, Bog Beans, and Beetles: Discovering the Late Ice Age of Woodburn, Oregon.”
This book is about the discovery of a late Pleistocene deposit of ice age plants and animals. Students from the local high school as well as community members have been discovering bones and plant remains that are perfectly preserved in an ancient bog environment. One of these animals was an extinct Bison that lived 13,000 years ago and may be the largest bison ever discovered.
Everyone is welcome to join us! Membership is NOT required! Before the talk, we will have show-and-tell by members and guests. Please bring fossils for identification and discussion.
