You are invited to come and dig into the Ice Age! You could find bones from ancient bison, frogs, turtles, birds, and more. This is an annual event sponsored by Woodburn High School and the City of Woodburn. You will be looking through over-turned dirt either using hand tools or water and sieving/sifting, so plan to get dirty and/or wet. Bring lots of water to drink, hat, and sunscreen. Tools and training are provided. All are invited. You do not need to be a NARG member to participate. Some of the best finds are made by children and first-timers!
The site is located in the grassy area near the southeast parking area at the high school. Come anytime Tuesday-Friday between 8 am and 1 pm. Questions can be directed to dellingson9@yahoo.com

We’ll be looking for concretions in the creek bedrock, some of which contain fossil crabs. It’s also a lovely small creek in the woods, perfect for a hot July day. Tools for this field trip might include rock hammer and chisel. Because it is probably going to be warm, make sure you have a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water. Recommended that you wear lightweight long pants and shirt. You will be in the water, but think about wearing shoes that cover toes and heels, like sneakers you don’t worry about getting wet. You need to be a member of NARG to participate for liability concerns. You can find information on how to join by going to nargpaleo.org. Free event and car pool is available. We will meet at Jewell School, 83874 OR-103, Seaside, OR 97138 at 10AM, then go together to the dig site. For details, please contact Greg at greg.fossil.hunter@gmail.com.
